My mother was an avid gardener and had many beautiful flowers. Although I did not inherit her talent with plants, I could show my love of her flowers through my art. In her garden next to a fence grew tall red hollyhocks. I chose one for a closeup drawing. The original artwork is 16 x 20 painted with pink gouache and then the color pencil.
I have always loved to draw ever since I was a little girl, sitting in the kitchen with my mom showing me how to draw a train by making squares and circles. I've come a long way since then, graduating from crayons to colored pencils, pastels, oil pastels and even digital art. My favorite subjects are the people and places around me. I love capturing the everyday moments that seem so simple yet say so much. When you look at my artwork, I hope you will ee the beauty in the everyday as well.
